Textron Systems is seeking a Software Engineer (Sea Systems) for the Hunt Valley, MD area. This entry-level role offers hands-on work across the product lifecycle, mentorship, and exposure to surface vehicle technologies.

You will contribute to embedded software, sensor interfaces, and integration efforts on current and next-generation systems within a dynamic team environment.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, CIS, MIS, or related field.
• Proficient in C/C++, C#, Python, and/or Java.
• Basic shell scripting experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop solutions to routine technical problems of limited scope for Surface Vehicle products.
• Perform software development across all lifecycle phases from concept to lab and integration.
• Work on embedded control systems and sensor/operator interface development.
• Collaborate with a multi-functional team on exciting technologies and products.
• Provide offsite integration and test support.
• Assist with other duties as assigned.

A Day in the Life of a Software Engineer:

• Developing solutions to routine technical problems of limited scope on both current and next generation technologies in support of our family of Surface Vehicle products
• Performing software development of new products across all phases of the product lifecycle from concept development to lab and offsite integration and evaluation
• Performing software development at component, subsystem and system level including embedded control systems and sensor/operator interface development
• Working cohesively on a multi-functional team with exciting technologies and products
• Providing offsite integration and test support
• Other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

• What You’ll Need:
• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science/computer engineering/CIS/MISor a related field
• C/C++, C#, Python, and/or Java programming
• Basic shell scripting experience
• Ability to work 40 hours/week (with every other Friday off!)
• Ability to obtain a security clearance
• Traveling up to 20% of the time

Textron’s compensation package includes competitive base pay and provides eligible employees with benefit programs. Benefits may include health insurance and prescription plan coverage, dental insurance, family building benefits, vision insurance, mental health resources, flexible spending accounts, health savings accounts, retirement savings plans, life and disability insurance programs, and programs that provide employees time away from work. The pay range for this position is $99,000.00 - $99,000.00 per year.
