Job summary

Textron Systems in Hunt Valley, MD is seeking an entry-level Software Engineer to contribute from day one on surface vehicle software. You will work across the product lifecycle with mentorship and hands-on projects in a defense and commercial tech environment.

You'll develop embedded control systems and sensor interfaces while pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in CS/CE/CIS/MIS, gaining experience in a collaborative setting and working on site at Textron’s Maryland facility.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in computer science/computer engineering/CIS/MIS or a related field.
  • C/C++, C#, Python, and/or Java programming.
  • Basic shell scripting experience.
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance.
  • Traveling up to 20% of the time.

  • Developing solutions to routine technical problems of limited scope on both current and next generation technologies in support of our family of Surface Vehicle products.
  • Performing software development of new products across all phases of the product lifecycle from concept development to lab and offsite integration and evaluation.
  • Performing software development at component, subsystem and system level including embedded control systems and sensor/operator interface development.
  • Working cohesively on a multi-functional team with exciting technologies and products.
  • Providing offsite integration and test support.

About This Role

A Day in the Life of a Software Engineer:

Qualifications

  • Ability to work 40 hours/week (with every other Friday off!)
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance
  • Traveling up to 20% of the time

Textron's compensation package includes competitive base pay and provides eligible employees with benefit programs. The pay range should be used as a general guide only. Compensation is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. In compliance with the local pay transparency law, the pay range for this position is $99,000.00 - $99,000.00 per year.
