Job summary

Skanska USA is seeking a dynamic Project Engineer to support project execution across contracts, submittals, and field coordination. The role requires strong organizational skills and on-site presence to monitor deliveries, QA/QC, and safety meetings, while partnering with the project team, client, and trades.

The ideal candidate has 1+ years in construction documentation, plans reading, and project closeout, with a Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or Engineering or equivalent

Responsibilities

  • Assist with contract setup, project administration, and field coordination.
  • Maintain project data in PMIS, prepare bid packages, manage submittals and RFIs.
  • Support permit process and accurate project documentation throughout the life of the project.
  • Regularly be on site to monitor construction activities and attend production and safety meetings.
  • Coordinate among project team, client, trade contractors, and design partners.

The Project Engineer supports project execution through contract setup, project administration, and field coordination to help ensure successful delivery of construction projects. This role assists with maintaining project data in the PMIS, preparing bid packages, managing submittals and RFIs, supporting the permit process, and maintaining accurate project documentation throughout the life of the project. The Project Engineer is also regularly present on site to monitor construction activities, inspect material deliveries, attend production and safety meetings, and support daily coordination among the project team, client, trade contractors, and design partners.

In this role, the Project Engineer helps track schedule progress, material deliveries, trade contractor installation, QA/QC compliance, procurement activities, and change management efforts, while also contributing to project close-out. The position requires strong written and verbal communication skills, sound organizational and prioritization abilities, and a client-focused, collaborative approach. The Project Engineer plays an important role in promoting Skanska’s culture, safety standards, and commitment to Injury-Free Environment and Care for Life initiatives. Responsibilities may vary depending on the project’s size, complexity, phase, and delivery method.

Project Engineer Required Qualifications:
  • 1+ years of experience creating documentation such as RFIs, and client correspondence on issues related to the notification provisions in contracts.
  • 1+ years of reading and understanding construction plans and drawings and the technical specifications associated with drawings. Able to outline specifications required for submission to clients and ensure submittals and shop drawings are approved.
  • 1+ years' experience with project close out.
  • Bachelor's Degree - Construction Management, Engineering, or similar or 8 years of equivalent experience
