The Boston Red Sox are seeking Minor League Seasonal Assistant Athletic Trainers for the 2027 season. Positions will be located at Worcester, MA, Portland, ME, Greenville, SC, Salem, VA or Fort Myers, FL, with start in Spring Training 2027 and ending after the minor league season.

The role offers hands-on experience with a professional sports medicine team, access to education platforms, and potential to work with Major League staff during Spring Training. Housing stipend provided.

Qualifications

• Must be ATC-certified or eligible to sit for BOC exam prior to start.
• Eligible for state licensure in affiliated state.
• Available full-time Feb–Sept 2027 for minor-league season.
• Spanish fluency a plus but not required.
• Prior strength & conditioning experience is preferable.

DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW:

The Medical staff at the Boston Red Sox seeks to provide the highest quality of care to our players to maximize short- and long-term health and performance within the organization’s philosophies and processes. As a group, we promote healthfulness by integrating all areas of the medical team and adjacent performance departments to reduce injury and illness rates, provide precise and timely evaluation and treatment, and provide long term strategies to education the players and staff.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Boston Red Sox are hiring Minor LeagueSeasonal Assistant Athletic Trainers for the 2027 season. Positions will be located at Worcester, MA, Portland, ME, Greenville, SC, Salem, VA or Fort Myers, FL. The report date would be around February 28th, 2027 through the completion of the assigned Minor League Affiliate Season, with a possibility to continue with off-season camp hosted in Fort Myers through November 2027.

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to, providing athletic training coverage for an assigned Minor League affiliate throughout the regular season and during postseason camps. Selected candidates will have access to valuable professional development opportunities in the evolving field of evidence-based practice, including the Boston Red Sox’s internal orthopedic and manual therapy education platform. They will also gain hands-on experience as part of a professional sports medicine team, with opportunities to work alongside the Major League staff during Spring Training.

TIMELINE AND COMPENSATION:

This position begins in Spring Training of 2027 and runs through the end of the Minor League playing season. The hourly rate for this position is $15 or a state’s minimum wage, whichever is higher. We also provide a generous housing stipend.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide care and management of injuries and illnesses including prevention, evaluation, management and rehabilitation protocols
• Scheduling and execution of athlete monitoring assessments and data collection for Strength and Conditioning, Health & Performance, Sports Science and other baseball initiatives
• Learn and aid in the proper documentation within the MLB EMR system
• Assist in the various administrative duties/reporting procedures
• Coordinate and administer infection control duties

COMPETENCIES

• Able to establish trust and build rapport with players and staff from a diverse set of cultures and backgrounds.
• Effective when treating regional or specific impairments and an in-depth knowledge of anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, etc.
• Able to prescribe appropriate exercise for injury prevention, motor control, conditioning, and therapeutic purposes.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

• Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) or be enrolled ina CAATE accredited program and eligible to sit for BOC exam prior to the position start date, or during course of employment.
• Eligible for state athletic training licensure in affiliated state.
• Applicants are required to be available full-time for the duration of the minor-league baseball season running from February 2027 through September 2027.
• High level of interpersonal skills and be able to effectively communicate with wide range of departments, seniority levels and personalities.
• Prior experience and/oradditional certification in strength & conditioning is preferable.
• Prior baseball experience and fluency in Spanish are a plus but not required.
