Constellation, in partnership with Calpine, is seeking a Mechanical Engineering intern for the Metcalf Energy Center in California. This paid internship runs for 10 weeks from June 7 to August 13, 2027, with hands-on tasks and mentorship from experienced engineers.

You'll assist Plant Engineers and operations staff with day-to-day tasks, data recording, and safety procedures while developing real-world skills in mechanical and electrical maintenance in an outdoor, field setting.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering at an accredited college or university.
• Junior standing preferred.
• Legally eligible to work in the United States now and in the future for any company.
• Willingness to work outdoors, in field locations, in a hands-on environment.
• Willingness to adhere to plant safety standards, procedures, and practices.
• Good comprehension of basic engineering practices.
• Good problem solving and analytical ability.
• Strong computer skills especially in the use of spreadsheets and word processing programs.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsabilités

• Assist Plant Engineer in day-to-day engineering tasks.
• Assist Plant shift operations including local starting and stopping of equipment.
• Assist in maintaining shift operating logs and records when required.
• Read and record gauges and meters when required.
• Assist under supervision with mechanical and electrical maintenance tasks, inspections, and troubleshooting.
• Assist in development of standard procedures for operations.
• Assist with maintaining plant chemistry logs and records.
• Assist with requisition of spare parts inventory for plant equipment.
• Perform other duties as assigned while under supervision.
• Report to and take day-to-day instructions from the Plant Engineer, Plant Manager and Operations Manager.

We are currently seeking highly motivated Mechanical Engineering students for Engineering Internships for 2027 to work in person at our location in Coyote, CA – Metcalf Energy Center. These paid internships will last approximately 10 weeks starting June 7th, 2027 through August 13th, 2027. Interns will work on specific projects, designed to help them gain real-world, hands on experience working independently under an assigned supervisor and technical mentor.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Assist Plant Engineer in day-to-day engineering tasks
• Assist Plant shift operations including local starting and stopping of equipment.
• Assist in Maintain shift operating logs and records when required.

• Assist while under direct supervision by a qualified Calpine Employee with mechanical and electrical maintenance tasks, inspections, and troubleshooting.
• Assist in development of standard procedures for operations.
• Assist with Maintaining plant chemistry logs and records.
• Assist with the requisition spare parts inventory for plant equipment.
• Perform other duties as assigned while under the direct supervision of a Calpine employee.
• Report to and take day-to-day instructions, both written and verbal, from the Plant Engineer, Plant Manager and Operations Manager
