Textron is offering a 2027 Mechanical Engineer Intern- Ground Support Equipment opportunity in Georgia. The internship provides hands-on experience, mentorship, and real project work across mechanical and electrical design tasks. You will contribute to design reviews, tolerancing, and validation activities while developing professional skills.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering.
  • Software knowledge: Microsoft Office, CAD, Visual Basic or other programming languages, MATLAB.

Responsibilities

  • Assist design and development of mechanical or electrical systems (frames, suspension, axles, etc.).
  • Adhere to project timelines and schedules.
  • Revise and create engineering specifications and standards.
  • Develop packaging layouts for products.
  • Create, test, and analyze plans for product validation.
  • Perform tolerance studies on components and assemblies.
  • Release engineering drawings and BOMs for vehicles.
  • Incorporate GD&T on drawings.
  • Support cross-functional design reviews and DFA/DFM assessments.

Responsibilities
  • Completion of assigned tasks to assist in the design and development of various mechanical or electrical systems, such as vehicle frame, steering, suspension, axles, drivelines, seating, roll cages, body panels, lighting, electrical harness and electrical system design, circuit board design, or microprocessor programming.
  • Work within defined project timelines to complete tasks according to project schedule.
  • Revise, review, and create functional specifications and engineering design standards.
  • Develop and design packaging layouts.
  • Create, test, and analyze plans for product validation.
  • Perform tolerance studies on components and assemblies.
  • Develop and release engineering components, assembly drawings, and vehicle bill of material.
  • Incorporate Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) on engineering drawings.
  • Resolve and document design issues found during testing.
  • Participate in cross functional design reviews and Design for Assembly (DFA) and Design for Manufacturing (DFM) Assessments.

Qualifications
  • Education: pursuing a bachelor's degree in mechanical or Electrical Engineering or another related field required
  • Software Knowledge: Microsoft Office applications, CAD, Visual Basic or other programming languages preferred, Matlab
