Job summary

Textron Specialized Vehicles in Cartersville, GA, is seeking a Mechanical Engineer Intern for Ground Support Equipment. You will assist in design and development of mechanical and electrical systems, work to project timelines, and contribute to product validation.

Education: pursuing a bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering. Proficiency with CAD, MATLAB, and Microsoft Office preferred.

Qualifications

  • Education: pursuing a bachelor’s degree in mechanical or Electrical Engineering or another related field required.
  • Software Knowledge: MATLAB, CAD, Visual Basic or other programming languages, and Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

  • Assist design and development of mechanical or electrical systems.
  • Work within project timelines to meet schedules.
  • Revise and create engineering specifications and standards.
  • Develop packaging layouts for products.
  • Create and test plans for product validation.
  • Perform tolerance studies on components.
  • Release engineering drawings and bill of materials.
  • Apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) on engineering drawings.
  • Document design issues found during testing.
  • Participate in cross-functional design reviews and DFA/DFM assessments.

Responsibilities
  • Completion of assigned tasks to assist in the design and development of various mechanical or electrical systems, such as vehicleframe, steering, suspension, axles, drivelines, seating, roll cages, body panels, lighting, electrical harness and electrical systemdesign, circuit board design, or microprocessor programming.
  • Work within defined project timelines to complete tasks according to project schedule.
  • Revise, review, and create functional specifications and engineering design standards.
  • Develop and design packaging layouts.
  • Create, test, and analyze plans for product validation.
  • Perform tolerance studies on components and assemblies.
  • Develop and release engineering components, assembly drawings, and vehicle bill of material.
  • Incorporate Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) on engineering drawings.
  • Resolve and document design issues found during testing.
  • Participate in cross functional design reviews and Design for Assembly (DFA) and Design for Manufacturing (DFM) Assessments.
