Job summary

Textron is offering a 2027 Electrical Engineer Intern position in Augusta, GA. This internship provides hands-on experience, mentorship, and opportunities to work on real projects alongside seasoned professionals to prepare for a future in engineering.

You will contribute to the design and development of electrical systems, draft drawings, perform analyses, and participate in design reviews while gaining practical industry exposure.

Qualifications

• Education: pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field required.
• Software Knowledge: Microsoft Office, CAD, Visual Basic or other programming languages, Matlab preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the design and development of electrical systems and components such as lighting, electrical harnesses, circuit boards, and microprocessor programming.
• Work within defined project timelines to meet project schedules.
• Revise and create functional specs and engineering design standards.
• Create test and analysis plans for product validation.
• Perform tolerance studies on components and assemblies.
• Develop and release engineering drawings and vehicle bills of material.
• Apply GD&T on drawings.
• Resolve design issues found during testing.
• Participate in cross-functional design reviews and DFA/DFM assessments.
• Perform Finite Element Analysis (FEA) on components and assemblies for stress and thermal analysis.

Description

Responsibilities

• Completion of assigned tasks to assist in the design and development of various mechanical or electrical systems, such as: vehicle frame, steering, suspension, axles, drivelines, seating, roll cages, body panels, lighting, electrical harness and electrical system design, circuit board design, and microprocessor programming.

• Work within defined project timelines to complete tasks according to project schedule.

• Revise, review, and create functional specifications and engineering design standards.

• Creating test and analysis plans for product validation.

• Perform tolerance studies on components and assemblies.

• Development and release of engineering component, assembly drawings, and vehicle bills of material.

• Incorporate Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) on engineering drawings.

• Resolve and document design issues found during testing.

• Participate in cross functional design reviews and Design for Assembly (DFA) and Design for manufacturing (DFM) Assessments on Components & Assemblies.

• Perform Finite Element Analysis (FEA) on Components & Assemblies for stress, thermal etc.
