Textron Aviation is offering a Buyer intern position that supports supply chain planning, negotiating, and supplier management. You’ll work on real projects alongside experienced professionals during a 10-week summer program in Mesa, AZ.

You will gain hands-on experience in procurement, demand signals, and inventory management while developing communication and problem-solving skills in a collaborative, on-site environment.

• Prepare purchase orders and track delivery deadlines.
• Review defective goods with QA to determine root cause.
• Analyze market conditions and supplier costs to provide recommendations.

++JOB SUMMARY:++

The Buyer intern position supports the supply chain department by using demand signals to plan, prepare, and implement negotiation strategies. Assists with managing effective competitive bidding process including analyzing and evaluating proposals along with negotiating and selecting or recommending suppliers. Manage inventory levels to maximize turns while maintaining fill rates.

++JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:++

• Perform a variety of activities in support of successfully procuring and arranging for delivery of materials, services, and supplies for assigned parts/commodities.
• Identify cost reduction opportunities and strategies for assigned parts/commodities.
• Assists with supplier cost reduction and cost avoidance commitments.
• Use demand signals to plan, prepare, and implement negotiation strategies.
• Manage inventory levels to maximize turns while maintaining fill rates.
• Preparation of purchase orders and follow through to expedite delivery and shipments.
• Review defective or unacceptable goods with inspection or quality control to determine source of trouble and take corrective action in a timely matter.
• Analyze market and industry conditions/material costs and develop supply recommendations

Qualifications

++EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE:++

Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in business, Supply Chain Management, Finance, or related field.

++QUALIFICATIONS:++

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Self-motivated, persistent, hands‑on, result oriented, well organized with ability to handle multiple projects within expected time frame with a sense of urgency. Excellent interpersonal, communication and planning skills are required.
• Ability to work in a close team environment and under tight deadlines.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi‑task and prioritize as necessary.
• Highly responsive to internal and external customer requirements, with a high attention for detail.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to make critical decisions and problem solve.

Applicants must be authorized to work lawfully in the U.S. for Textron Aviation at the time of making application, and visa sponsorship is not available for this position, including for F-1 students and J-1 exchange visitors who will need employment sponsorship.

Summer internships are 40 hours per week typically from late‑May to early‑August lasting 10 weeks.

Candidates must be able to work onsite for the entirety of the internship program unless approved otherwise by the hiring manager.
