Job summary

The Boston Red Sox offer an opportunity within the International Scouting Department to gain foundational exposure to baseball operations and acquisitions. The Associate role focuses on workflow improvements, data collection, and evaluation methods within a global talent pipeline.

Program runs from January 2027 or June 2027 through October 31, 2027, with an hourly rate of $20 and a monthly living stipend to support participants while they learn and contribute to international player evaluations

Qualifications

• Must be bilingual in English and Spanish.
• Willing to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
• Experience with SQL/R/Python is a plus.
• Prior baseball or sport experience is not required for success in this role.

• Assist department leadership in player check-listing processes and comprehensive analysis for potential acquisitions.
• Explore Baseball Operations domains to identify and drive research opportunities that will enhance international player evaluation and acquisition.
• Assist with departmental tasks including, but not limited to: maintaining and enhancing departmental information and communication platforms; collaborating cross-departmentally to manage collection and quality control of video and data streams; working with remote Spanish-speaking staff to coordinate data collection and troubleshoot issues.
• Develop core domain competencies across Baseball Operations through hands-on experience, education, and mentorship.

DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW:

The Boston Red Sox International Scouting Department is committed to identifying and acquiring impact amateur talent globally and integrating them into our player development system. We empower staff to grow as individuals, while collectively striving to be best-in-class in our player evaluations, analytical methods, and staff development.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

This role is designed to build a strong foundation throughout baseball operations, combining curriculum and project-based education, day-to-day project and task execution, and exposure to decision-making processes at the highest level of the game. Prior baseball experience is not mandatory for success in this role. The Associate will primarily support the International Scouting department with exposure to the Acquisitions domain through the following functions:

• Power-using decision-making and valuation materials for player analysis and evaluation.

• Driving progress and improvements in the international amateur player acquisition processes.

• Oversight of the collection, mapping, and cleaning of international video and data.

TIMELINE AND COMPENSATION:

This program begins in January 2027 or June 2027, depending on candidate availability, and runs through October 31st, 2027. The hourly rate for this role is $20 and includes a generous monthly living stipend.
