Job summary

Northrop Grumman in Clearfield, UT, is seeking a Tooling Engineer Interview for the Aeronautics Systems Intern Program. This on-site internship offers exposure to tooling design and integration within the Aerostructures group.

The qualified candidate will work full-time for 10 weeks in Summer 2027, pursuing a STEM degree and seeking U.S. citizenship clearance. Campus housing and relocation support are not mentioned.

Qualifications

• Be enrolled full-time pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in STEM and graduating after August 2027.
• Be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite).
• Be available to work full-time (40 hours per week) for at least 10 weeks during summer 2027.

Responsibilities

• Manage and support integration of new tooling from design through sustainment.
• Support critical production builds involving technical tooling processes.
• Provide communication to IPT leaders regarding cost and schedule including escalation of any technical issues.
• Work with Manufacturing Engineering to deliver tools that meet product build requirements.
• Manage external Tooling Design/Fabrication Shops on Design/Build projects.
• Use Microsoft applications to communicate and present tooling progress.
• Support Tool Design tasks including 3D modeling, 2D drafting and checking.
• Concept and design special tooling within an IPT structure.
• Use CAD resources for tooling design (primarily NX).
• Provide tooling cost/schedule estimates for new tools and/or tooling modifications.

This position will be located in Clearfield, UT. The qualified candidate will become part of Northrop Grumman’s Aeronautics Systems sector in the Aerostructures group.

Basic Qualifications

A candidate, regardless of age and hiring source, must meet ALL of the below criteria. The candidate must:

• Be enrolled full-time and pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree from an accredited college/university AND graduating after August 2027.
• Be majoring in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) degree.
• Be available to work full-time (40 hours per week) for at least 10 weeks during summer 2027
• Be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite) as well as Program Special access within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs.

Preferred Qualifications

• Have an overall cumulative GPA of 3.25/4.0 or higher.
• Previous internship/co-op experience, leadership & teamwork capabilities, interpersonal communication skills, and activities (professional/community/extracurricular)

Intern Pay Range

• Undergraduate degrees (Including graduating students planning on attending/enrolled in a full-time Master’s program): $18.50 to $33.50 per hour
• Master’s: $26.25 to $41.50 per hour
