Job summary

Lycoming Engines, part of Textron, invites a 2027 Mechanical Engineering intern to contribute to new product development, BOM creation, and engineering changes using PLM tools in a hands‑on setting in Williamsport, PA.

You will collaborate with experienced engineers, review drawings, and engage with customers to understand designs and specifications while supporting FAA certification efforts.

Qualifications

• Pursuing BS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
• Knowledge of ASME Y14.5 GD&T drafting standards.
• BOM creation/maintenance using SAP or Oracle.
• Strong teamwork, presentation, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform engineering assignments for new product development or enhancements.
• Create and maintain engine BOM.
• Review changes to engineering procedures and drawings.
• Create and execute ECOs using PLM software.
• Consult with customers on designs and specifications.
• Assist ODA group with FAA certification effort.
• Coordinate activities with Director, Configuration Management and Regulations.
• May interface with suppliers.

About This Role

We believe people should love what they do – in this role, you will be responsible for:

• Perform a variety of engineering assignments related to new product development and/or enhancement of existing products
• Creation and maintenance of engine bill of materials (BOM)
• Review engineering changes / revisions to both engineering procedures and drawings
• Create and execute engineering change orders (ECOs) using PLM software
• Consult with customers on designs and specifications
• Assist ODA group with FAA certification effort
• Coordinate activities with Director, Configuration Management and Regulations to ensure business and development goals will be achieved
• May be required to interface with suppliers

Qualifications

• Actively pursuing BS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
• Knowledge of ASME Y14.5 GD&T drafting standards
• BOM creation / maintenance using ERP systems (SAP, Oracle preferred)
• Teamwork approach, presentation skills, ability to resolve conflicts
• Strong organizational, interpersonal and communications skills with high attention to detail
