Job summary

Truist’s Audit Services Internship embeds interns within an internal audit team to learn the foundations of auditing and Truist’s processes. Throughout the program, teammates will work with seasoned professionals, participate in development programs, and build the technical skills needed for a career in financial services.

The requisition is open to 2026 Truist interns only. Applicants not enrolled as 2026 interns will not be considered.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a bachelor’s or advanced degree in accounting, mathematics, business or related field.
  • Ability to work well in a team.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient with basic computer applications, including Microsoft Office.
  • Curiosity and desire for ongoing learning.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a basic knowledge of internal auditing and Truist’s audit process.
  • Build foundational audit and technology-based tool skills.
  • Work under supervision to perform assigned audit and advisory work.
  • Receive ongoing performance coaching and feedback to develop skills.
  • Participate in training, audit meetings, and cross-functional activities to build business acumen.

Throughout the internship, teammates will have the unique opportunity to be “embedded” within an internal auditing team, learning alongside seasoned, experienced professionals in the industry to learn the foundations of internal audit and Truist’s audit process. Teammates will have the opportunity to form connections with their peers within TAS and across Truist and interface with Truist teammates across levels and participate in several developmental programs to strengthen their technical skillset and abilities as an aspiring financial services professional.

This requisition is open to 2026 Truist Interns only. Applicants who were not 2026 Truist interns will not be considered.

Requisitions open to other external candidates will be posted at a later date if additional positions remain open for the Truist Audit Internship.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The following is a summary of the essential functions for this job. Other duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below. Specific activities may change from time to time.

  • Develop a basic knowledge of internal auditing by:
  • developing a working knowledge of the function’s purpose and the Truist audit process.
  • developing an understanding of risk management, risk monitoring and internal controls.
  • developing an awareness of Truist’s line of businesses and their purposes.
  • Build foundational understanding of audit and technology based audit tool skills, as well as key business processes.
  • Work under the direction of a senior team member to perform assigned audit and advisory work.
  • Invite and receive ongoing performance coaching and written feedback to further develop skills necessary to be successful.
  • Participate in all assigned training/development opportunities and audit meetings to build business acumen and learn about banking and financial services processes and auditing objectives.
  • Network with leaders and teammates to form lasting professional connections.
Required Qualifications

  • Working toward the completion of a bachelor’s or advanced degree in accounting, mathematics, business or related field or equivalent education and related training at an accredited college or university.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment
  • Good decision-making skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including ability to present
  • Demonstrated proficiency in basic computer applications, such as Microsoft Office
  • Proven curiosity and desire for ongoing learning and development opportunities

The starting hourly wage for this position is $30.00

General Description of Available Benefits for Eligible Employees of Truist Financial Corporation: All regular teammates (not temporary or contingent workers) working 20 hours or more per week are eligible for benefits, though eligibility for specific benefits may be determined by the division of Truist offering the position. Truist offers medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, accidental death and dismemberment, tax-preferred savings accounts, and a 401k plan to teammates. Teammates also receive no less than 10 days of vacation (prorated based on date of hire and by full-time or part-time status) during their first year of employment, along with 10 sick days (also prorated), and paid holidays.
