Job summary

Eversource Energy is seeking a Summer Accounting Intern to join the team in Berlin, CT and Westwood, MA. You will support the preparation of financial data for system companies, under supervision, and gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced energy environment.

Responsibilities include assisting with filings, month-end analysis, journal entries, and research of accounting issues. Proficiency in MS Office and strong communication skills are required; pursuing a Bachelor's degree in accounting is

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in accounting; junior year preferred.
• Knowledge of accounting theory is required.
• Proficient in MS Office applications (Excel and Word) and eager to learn computer applications.
• Strong communication, judgment, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparation of SEC, Federal Regulatory Commission and state regulatory filings
• Assist with the review and analysis of month end financial statements and reports
• Participate in the monthly accounting closing cycle including preparation of journal entries and analysis and reconciliation of accounts
• Develop corporate cost loading rates
• Assist in the research of accounting issues as identified

Job Description

The responsibilities of an intern position in the Accounting organization at Eversource Energy will include some of the following:

• Assist in preparation of SEC, Federal Regulatory Commission and state regulatory filings
• Assist with the review and analysis of month end financial statements and reports
• Participate in the monthly accounting closing cycle including preparation of journal entries and analysis and reconciliation of accounts
• Develop corporate cost loading rates
• Assist in the research of accounting issues as identified

The Company uses a number of tools to accomplish these tasks including,

• Working with the Company’s integrated mainframe accounting and budgeting system
• Working with Microsoft Office applications including Excel and Word

Candidates should possess excellent communication, judgment, teamwork, and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of accounting theory is required. Individuals should be proficient in the use of MS Office applications, and have a strong interest and desire to learn and apply computer applications. Candidate should be in the process of pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in accounting; preference will be given to students who have finished their junior year.
