Job summary

Under Canvas is seeking a Food & Beverage Attendant for a seasonal, hourly role at Zion, Virgin, UT. You will be the main point of contact for our guest dining experience, greeting guests, taking orders, processing transactions, and supporting operations in an outdoor, lodge-style setting.

• High School Diploma or GED is preferred.
• Food Handler (ServSafe) Certification and TIPS Certification must be obtained by opening date or prior to working with food/alcohol.

Responsibilities

• Greet and serve guests at the restaurant counter with a friendly and professional demeanor.
• Answer questions about menu items, offer recommendations, and process transactions accurately.
• Maintain guest safety by following all food safety and sanitation protocols.
• Deliver excellent service to guests outdoors in varying weather.
• Collaborate with kitchen staff and colleagues across departments to ensure smooth service.
• Learn about menu offerings, beverages, local culture, and on-site activities to inform guests.

Summary

As a Food & Beverage Attendant, you are the main point of contact for our guest dining experience. You will engage with guests at our café-style restaurant, where you will make recommendations, process transactions, run food and beverages, and support the operation as needed.

Your goal is to provide exceptional service, ensuring our guests have everything they need for an enjoyable dining experience outdoors with family, friends, and nature. We cater to a diverse range of guests, including groups, families, and individuals with varying ages, interests, and levels of comfort in outdoor environments.

This is a seasonal, hourly position.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain composure, take action, and remain resourceful and solution-oriented in unpredictable situations, such as weather events, diverse guest needs, or incidents on property.
• Cheerfully greet and serve guests at the restaurant counter.
• Answer questions about menu items, provide recommendations, and process transactions accurately and efficiently.
• Actively maintain guest safety by following all food safety and sanitation protocols.
• Demonstrate a passion for the food and beverage industry and a commitment to delivering high standards of service.
• Create memorable dining experiences for guests.
• Listen to guests, anticipate service needs, and provide proactive assistance.

Preferred Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Food Handler (ServSafe) Certification and TIPS Certification.
  • Certifications must be obtained by the property's opening date or prior to performing any work involving food or alcohol handling.
• Ability to follow direction.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Friendly, team-oriented attitude.
• Restaurant experience preferred but not required.
• Knowledge of food safety practices.
• Experience using Point of Sale (POS) systems.
• Understanding of sanitation standards.

Additional Information

• This position requires the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) when applicable.
• This position requires the ability to independently lift a minimum of 45 lbs.
• Physical demands associated with this position include extensive walking, standing, bending, twisting, lifting, and maneuvering in an outdoor environment on uneven surfaces.
• Ability to work in extreme weather conditions, including but not limited to heat, cold, rain, snow, humidity, and wind.
• This position may be contingent upon the satisfactory completion of a background check and/or motor vehicle records check, as required by Under Canvas.
