Job summary

Textron Aviation in Wichita, Kansas is seeking an entry-level Technical Publications Engineer to create and revise aircraft manuals, with a focus on operation and maintenance procedures. You will research data from engineering drawings and regulatory sources to ensure continued airworthiness.

Using FrameMaker, CATIA and other tools, you will validate procedures on and off aircraft while growing your skills through mentorship and hands-on experience in a dynamic aerospace environment.

Qualifications

  • Understanding of engineering data, with ability to research and analyze engineering drawings and technical documents.
  • Mechanical aptitude with experience and knowledge of aircraft operation, aircraft systems, aircraft maintenance practices and aircraft manufacturing.
  • Familiar with Military, FAA Regulations, and Aviation Industry specifications (iSpec 2200, S1000D, MilSpecs).
  • Experience using SGML/HTML/XML and Adobe FrameMaker preferred.
  • Professional and diplomatic demeanor with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. for Textron Aviation; visa sponsorship is not available.
  • Textron Aviation must comply with U.S. export control laws.

JOB SUMMARY

Create and prepare new or revised aircraft technical manuals to include the operation and maintenance of aircraft parts, systems and assemblies. Conduct research independently and collaboratively using engineering database information, engineering drawings, functional tests, commercial and military sources and standards, such as ATA and MIL specifications. Ensure all data conforms to established design specifications while providing customers with detailed instructions for continued airworthiness.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Utilize Adobe FrameMaker authoring software to produce detailed procedures to support the operation and maintenance of aircraft systems.

EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Aviation or related field required
  • Relative experience in a technical field is preferred
  • A&P (or equivalent military experience) and/or Pilot’s license a plus.
  • Less than 2 years of professional experience in a relevant role
QUALIFICATIONS
