Job summary

BHE Renewables offers an extended internship for accounting-focused students to gain practical experience across monthly/quarterly reporting, reconciliations, and audit support. You will work in a renewable energy environment, applying classroom knowledge while developing professional skills in a structured, collaborative setting.

The temporary, part-time internship in Des Moines provides exposure to multiple departments, with emphasis on accuracy, compliance, and process improvement.

Qualifications

• Must be a college student, sophomore or higher standing, currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program in accounting.
• Solid computer skills (Microsoft Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint).
• Familiarity with data exchange tools and concepts.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Effective project management skills.
• Effective analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and complete projects within tight deadlines.
• Must be available to work Summer 2027- Fall 2027.
• Employment is contingent upon passing a post-offer background check and drug screen.
• Employees must be able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without an accommodation.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparation and review of monthly and quarterly reports
• Assist in preparation of account reconciliations, journal entry files, and required documentation
• Support the planning process and compiling documentation for audit or other various requests
• Enhance job knowledge and abilities by taking personal responsibility for professional development and training
• Provide project assistance
• Perform responsibilities as directed within determined time frames and with a high degree of accuracy
• Establish and maintain effective work relationships within the department and the company
• Maintain the professional competence, knowledge and skills necessary to effectively complete responsibilities
• Maintain sensitive and confidential information regarding company information
• Attend work on a regular basis and support the company’s employee policies and procedures, including workplace safety rules
• Ensures all compliance aspects of position are known and followed; understands and complies with all policies, codes and regulations applicable to position and company
