Job summary

Owen County Schools is seeking a Substitute Teacher to fill in classrooms as needed, delivering instruction per the day's plans and maintaining classroom control. The ideal candidate holds a Kentucky teaching certificate or qualifies with a Bachelor's degree or sufficient coursework, and demonstrates ability to work effectively with students and staff.

This position is paid per day with the Board of Education approving daily rates.

Qualifications

• Valid Kentucky Teaching Certificate, or
• Bachelor's degree or higher (GPA does not matter); or
• 64 semester hours with 2.5 GPA or 3.0 on last 60 hours of credit
• Demonstrated ability to work and communicate effectively with students and staff

Responsibilities

• Report to school office upon arrival
• Review all plans and schedules to be followed during the day
• Follow lesson plan as prepared by classroom teacher
• Assume responsibility for supervising student behavior
• Follow all policies, rules and procedures to which regular teachers are subject
• Checks and records student attendance
• Maintains high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of student information
• Monitors and reports school safety conditions to the building principal
• Leave written report of the day's activities for the regular teacher at the end of the day
• Perform other related duties as may be assigned by Principal
