CAN Washtenaw is seeking an AmeriCorps VISTA Leader to support CAN's VISTA members across Michigan, including Detroit, Ann Arbor and Flint. You will lead recruitment, training, orientation, offboarding and provide administrative support to 13+ VISTAs and 25+ Summer Associates.

Responsibilities include co-leading orientation, creating new training modules, and institutionalizing trainings for reuse in future orientations.

Qualifications

• Completed a full service term as a VISTA, NCCC, or Returned Peace Corps Volunteer.
• Experience coordinating recruitment, training, and orientation is preferred.
• Ability to manage multiple VISTA staff and support partners effectively.

Job description

Are you an AmeriCorps or Peace Corps Alum who wants to support VISTA members around Michigan as they strive to improve communities? If so, CAN's VISTA Leader's primary responsibility is to ensure that CAN's VISTAs have the supports and resources that are needed to be successful at CAN. In addition from supports from the project director and site supervisor, the VISTA Leader provides a peer-to-peer support system for VISTAs that not only covers their professional needs but also includes social and personal issues.

Member Duties

Applicants for a VISTA Leader position must have successfully completed a full service term as either a VISTA, NCCC or AmeriCorps State/National Member or a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer. The VISTA will take a lead role in helping with the recruitment, training, orientation, offboarding, and general administrative support for CAN's 13+ VISTAs as well as 25+ VISTA Summer Associates. This VISTA will co-lead a thorough orientation that familiarizes VISTA staff with CAN's policies, procedures, curriculum, and key tools to be successful. This VISTA will create and implement new training modules tailored to the unique needs of CAN's VISTA staff. After training is complete, the VISTA will work on institutionalizing these trainings so that they can be reused during the next orientation.
