Property Control Technician II

Location: Finance Department - District Office

Contract Length: 12 months, 8 hours/day

Grade: 19, Pay: $18.51 per hour

Start Date: 07/06/2026

Purpose Statement

The job of Property Control Technician II is to provide support to the Finance operations by directing the day‑to‑day operations of Property Control, conducting physical inventories to verify equipment quantities and locations, and identifying losses.

Reporting Structure

This position reports to the Director of Budget & Finance and/or Internal Auditor.

Essential Functions
  • Assists auditors by providing requested information and necessary documentation for audit completion.
  • Compiles data from multiple sources to analyze issues and ensure compliance with purchasing policies and procedures.
  • Conducts physical inventories to verify equipment stock and identify losses.
  • Evaluates equipment condition to determine demolition, auction, or dump action.
  • Maintains accounting files and records to ensure documentation availability and compliance with policies and regulatory guidelines.
  • Prepares written materials and electronic financial information to document activities, provide reference, convey information, and comply with financial, legal, and administrative requirements.
  • Processes purchasing‑related information (e.g., tabulations, requisitions, electronic procurement, product specifications) to update and distribute information, authorize actions, and comply with accounting practices.
  • Provides leadership and technical assistance to subordinates and district personnel to support, identify appropriate action, and comply with financial procedures.
  • Reconciles various data (e.g., property inventory) to maintain accurate account balances and ensure compliance with accounting practices.
  • Researches discrepancies in financial information and documentation (e.g., property control, invoices) to ensure accuracy.
  • Responds to inquiries from internal and external sources to provide information, direction, and referrals.
Other Functions

Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure efficient operation of the work unit.

Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications
Skills, Knowledge And Abilities

Skills: Operate standard office equipment and software applications; plan and manage projects; budget and financial management; develop effective working relationships; analyze data.

Knowledge: Basic math calculations using fractions, percentages, and ratios; read manuals, write documents in prescribed formats, present information; understand complex written and oral instructions; knowledge of pertinent codes, policies, regulations, laws, federal and state purchasing regulations, education code, budget management and accounting, accounting/bookkeeping principles.

Abilities: Schedule activities; gather, collate, and classify data; use basic job‑related equipment; work flexibly with others; solve problems; communicate with diverse groups; work as a team; maintain accuracy and attention to detail.

Responsibility

Work under direct supervision using standardized routines; lead, guide, and coordinate others; utilize resources from other work units when needed. Opportunities exist to impact organizational services.

Work Environment

Physical demands: significant lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling; fine finger dexterity. Time allocation: 50% sitting, 20% walking, 30% standing. Minimal temperature variation.

Experience

Job‑related experience with increasing responsibility desired.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent.

Equivalency: Minimum of 3 credit hours of college math or equivalent.

Required Testing, Certificates and Licenses

Pre‑Employment Proficiency Tests: Mathematics and Departmental Accounting Test.
