Job Summary

The Pan African Studies Department at Cal State LA seeks part-time faculty lecturers for the 2026-2027 academic year. Positions are appointed on a conditional, semester basis and may be renewed based on departmental needs, funding, and performance. Lecturers may be required to begin classes on short notice due to scheduling changes.

Responsibilities
  • Teach assigned courses, prepare instruction, grade, and hold office hours.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and fulfill additional duties as needed.
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and students in a diverse, multicultural environment.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Appropriate degree from an accredited university: bachelor’s degree and substantial teaching experience for lower‑division courses; master’s degree for upper‑division undergraduate courses; doctoral degree, or master’s degree with substantial teaching experience for graduate courses.
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching at a college level.
  • Proficient written and oral English. Ability to work in a multiethnic, multicultural environment.

  • Experience working with diverse populations and fostering a collaborative, inclusive environment.
  • Relevant professional experience and training.
Compensation

Initial salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. Salary ranges (per academic year, per month, Full‑time equivalent):

  • Lecturer A/2 – $5,507 - $6,677
  • Lecturer B/3 – $6,221 - $13,224
  • Lecturer C/4 – $6,825 - $14,523
  • Lecturer D/5 – $8,593 - $15,211

New faculty lecturers are typically hired at Lecturer A or B rank.
