Position Overview

The Mechanical Engineering Department seeks part‑time faculty lecturers for the 2026–2027 academic year. Positions will be filled as needed for each semester. Faculty are hired on a conditional appointment basis, with initial terms typically one semester and, in some cases, for an academic year. Appointments may be renewed based on department needs, funding, and performance, and may require availability on very short notice.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Appropriate degree from an accredited university: bachelor’s degree and substantial teaching experience for lower‑division courses; master’s degree for upper‑division undergraduate courses; doctoral degree or master’s degree plus substantial teaching experience for graduate courses.
  • Demonstrated excellence in college‑level teaching.
  • Ability to relate well within the academic environment and demonstrate interest in working in a multiethnic, multicultural setting.
  • Demonstrated commitment to student‑centered learning and teaching.
  • Proficiency in written and oral use of the English language.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with diverse populations and fostering a collaborative, supportive, and inclusive environment.
  • Relevant work experience and training.
Duties
  • Instruction, class preparation, grading, and office hours for assigned courses.
  • Other duties as assigned based on departmental needs.
  • Teaching existing mechanical engineering courses and/or laboratories under guidance from full‑time faculty course coordinators.

Salary
  • Lecturer A/2: $5,507 – $6,677 per month
  • Lecturer B/3: $6,221 – $13,224 per month
  • Lecturer C/4: $6,825 – $14,523 per month
  • Lecturer D/5: $8,593 – $15,211 per month

The anticipated monthly hiring range is typically at or near the minimum of the appropriate range. Most new faculty lecturers are hired at the Lecturer A or B rank.
