Serving as a Long-Term Substitute at NewmanLong-term substitutes benefit from the support of strong colleagues and an engaged department chair, while also being expected to hit the ground running and quickly master classroom routines, curriculum pacing, and school practices. Successful long-term subs are self-starters who can design and implement their own materials, adapt to students' needs, and maintain instructional momentum. At the same time, they are flexible and work closely with the department chair to ensure alignment with departmental expectations and Newman's broader academic norms. Our Five Guiding Principles guide everything we do at Newman.
