Gallup-Mckinley County Schools seeks an Athletic Coach – Head Baseball for Navajo Pine High School for SY2026-2027. On-site position, SpringSport contract with duties guiding student-athletes in baseball, conditioning, and game strategy.
The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or equivalent, and must hold or obtain an Athletic Coaching License 7-12 and complete the Fundamentals of Coaching online exam through NM Activities Association. Evening and weekend work is expected.

High School Diploma or Equivalency
Must hold or have the ability to obtain an Athletic Coaching License (https://webnew.ped.state.nm.us/bureaus/licensure/how-to-apply/athletic-coach-7-12/) from the New Mexico Public Education Department as well as completing the Fundamentals of Coaching online exam offered through the New Mexico Activities Association (www.nmact.org).
The athletic director, who provides overall objectives and final evaluation in conjunction with the high school principals.
On-site attendance is mandatory for this position.
In several instances, the head coach must advise, coordinate and support a staff of high school assistant coaches and middle school coaches in conjunction with the athletic director and respective principal.
To instruct athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success. At the same time, the coach must instruct and demonstrate behaviors that lead to socially acceptable character development, self-discipline, self-confidence, and pride of accomplishment in the student athletes. To upgrade his/her knowledge and skills through coaching clinics, observations, consultation, etc.
Work with students interested in sports, provide necessary practice support and advice for a team to be successful against opposing teams in a sports season. Teach and enforce rules and regulations. Involves work on evenings and weekends.
