Job summary

Ithaca City School District seeks fall coaching staff to lead teams across multiple sports. You will mentor students, plan practices, and supervise contests for the season, while promoting sportsmanship and college/career readiness.

Qualified applicants must meet NYSED coaching certification requirements, hold CPR/AED & First Aid, and obtain fingerprint clearance. Various certifications (DASA, S.A.V.E., etc.) are required as listed.

Qualifications

• NYSED coaching certification required for teachers or non-certified applicants.
• CPR/AED and First Aid certification up to date.
• Fingerprint clearance and concussion certification completed.
• DASA and S.A.V.E./Child Abuse certifications are required.
• Temporary License eligibility for non-certified teachers when applicable.
• Commitment to eliminating race, class, and disability as predictors of outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Provide effective leadership to teach skills, tactics, and sportsmanship.
• Mentor students through college and career processes.
• Organize and supervise practices and contests for the season.
• Develop year-round training programs and health guidance.

Position Title: 2026-2027Fall CoachingPositions

Brief Description: Provide effective leadership in teaching all team members the skills, techniques and sportsmanship required for interscholastic competition in the respective sport. Mentor and support students through college and career processes. Organize, schedule and supervise all practices and contests throughout the season and postseason.

Typical responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Teach relevant skills, tactics and techniques


• Monitor and enhance performance by providing encouragement and constructive feedback


• Identify strengths and areas in need of improvement


• Advice about health and lifestyle issues


• Develop training programs year-round


• Undertake administrative tasks


• Assist with sports promotion/development


• Communicate regularly with families and local community


• Provide college and career readiness guidance and support

Required Qualifications:
