Job Description

Position: Bus Driver

Starting Date: Immediately

Job Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED preferred
• Must be 18 years of age
• Valid Texas Commercial Driver's License with a "P and S" endorsement
• Must attend in-service training classes and safety meetings

Job Description:

• Assist challenging students being transported to and from school as well as performing related work activities in a safe and timely manner
• 180 days for the 2026-2027 School Year
• 6 hours per day guaranteed

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist in maintaining, reading and understanding route sheets including time changes
• Exercising student management through correct use of communication and discipline
• Report discipline problems through proper school district procedures
• Assist in the inspection of each vehicle before and after each trip using correct procedures and completing proper district documents

MENTAL DEMANDS / PHYSICAL DEMANDS / ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS:

• Tools/Equipment Used: Operate school bus; two-way radio; global positioning system (GPS); safety equipment including flares, reflective signs, and fire extinguisher
• Posture: Prolonged sitting; frequent standing and twisting; occasional kneeling/squatting, bending, stooping, and pushing/pulling
• Motion: Prolonged driving; moderate walking; frequent climbing stairs, grasping/squeezing, wrist and shoulder flexion/extension, and reaching
• Lifting: Frequent heavy lifting (45 pounds or over) and positioning of students with physical disabilities; controlling behavior through physical restraint; assisting nonambulatory students; and lifting and moving adaptive equipment
• Environment: Frequent exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures, noise, and vehicle fumes; work around moving vehicles; regularly work irregular hours, and occasionally work prolonged hours

• The district contributes $400/monthly to the cost of "employee-only" health insurance which is $175/monthly greater than the state required amount of $225/monthly.
