Job summary

Liberty County School System in Georgia seeks a paraprofessional to assist teachers in maintaining classroom activities and supporting student learning. This role involves in-person instruction, clerical tasks, and direct student care under teacher supervision.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, a GaPSC-accepted associate degree or higher (or 60 college hours with a C or better), and completion of the GACE Paraprofessional Assessment.

Qualifications

• GACE Paraprofessional Assessment required.

Responsibilities

• Prompt and regular attendance.
• In person classroom instruction.
• Maintain confidentiality of student records and documentation.
• Assist teachers with clerical tasks, grading, materials, and reproducing documents.
• Assist teacher with bulletin boards.
• Assist students with health care procedures including hygiene and daily care.
• Assist students with physical needs including feeding, toileting, repositioning, and mobility as needed.
• Work with individual pupils or small groups to reinforce skills.
• Supervise groups or individuals as needed.
• Accompany groups on field trips under teacher supervision.
• Assist in supervising pupils before, during, and after school.
• Attend professional learning and staff development activities.
• Perform other assignments as needed by supervisor and Superintendent.

Job description

Job Goal: To assist the teacher in maintaining appropriate classroom activities and environment in order that students may learn effectively.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. High school diploma or GED certificate.
2. Demonstrated aptitude for work to be performed.
3. Hold an associate's degree or higer in any subject from a GaPSC-accepted accredited institution; or
4. Have completed two (2) years of college coursework (60 semester hours) above the remedial level with a grade of "C" or better at a GaPSC-accepted accredited institution or
5. Passed the GACE Paraprofessional Assessment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Prompt and regular attendance.
• In person classroom instruction.
• Maintain the confidentiality of all student records, reports, and other documentation
• Assists teachers with the clerical duties, grading papers, preparing materials, typing and/or reproducing documents.
• Assists teacher with bulletin boards
• Assist students with health care procedures including hygiene and daily care
• Assist students with physical needs including but not limited to feeding, toileting, repositioning, and mobility as needed
• Works with individual pupils and/or small groups to reinforce skills taught by teacher.
• Supervises groups or individuals at times when the principal deems it necessary for the teacher to be in a professional meeting or at other times designated by the supervisor
• Accompanies groups on field trips under the supervision of the teacher when such trips are authorized for educational purposes
• Assists teachers and the school program by helping with other tasks as assigned by the supervisor
• Assists in supervising pupils before, during, and after school
• Attend professional learning and staff development activities as needed
• Performs such other assignments and duties as assigned by the supervisor and Superintendent of Schools

Physical Requirements:

Able to perform routine physical activities that are required to fulfill job responsibilities including:

Medium Work: Exerting 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 10 pounds as needed to move objects.

Evaluation:

Performance of this job will be evaluated annually by the principal in accordance with the provisions of the Board’s policy on classified evaluation.
