Minnesota K-12 ASD and/or ABS teaching license required. Will consider EBD or LD licensure if candidate is willing to obtain ASD licensure within two years.

Job Duties and Requirements:
  1. Develop and provide programming based on Individual Educational Plan and make recommendations based on assessed data.
  2. Communicate regularly with parents outside normal classroom hours via Schoology, newsletters, phone calls, emails, conferences, etc.
  3. Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior to foster an effective learning environment.
  4. Maintain and improve professional skills through meetings, coursework, workshops, and seminars to stay current with best practices.
  5. Collaborate effectively with colleagues and supervisors.
  6. Manage cases for students in special education.
  7. Complete required Due Process procedures within mandated timeframes.
  8. Perform other similar duties as assigned.
Specific Responsibilities:
  1. Work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment with students, staff, administrators, parents, and the community.
  2. Support and communicate effectively with other administrators and staff.
  3. Respond appropriately in emergency situations.
  4. Follow school district policies.
  5. Coordinate work of paraprofessionals and volunteers as needed.
  6. Contribute to goal-setting for paraprofessionals.
  7. Participate regularly in a professional learning community.
  8. Engage in training on third-party reimbursement and implement related tasks.
Knowledge and Skills:
  1. Experience with Autism Spectrum Disorders.
  2. Strong curriculum background and teaching strategies.
  3. Experience collaborating with special and regular education staff.
  4. Experience teaching developmentally appropriate skills in reading, language arts, math, and social skills.
  5. Knowledge of behavior management strategies.
  6. Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  7. Ability to perform daily routines effectively.
  8. Proficiency with computers and classroom technology.
  9. Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, parents, and the community.
  10. Maintain professionalism and composure in various situations.
  11. Show initiative and be a self-starter.
