Job summary

Breakthrough Public Schools is seeking a Licensed Professional Counselor or Licensed Social Worker for the upcoming school year. Qualifications

Job Description

Breakthrough Public Schools (BPS) is seeking a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC or LPCC) or Licensed Social Worker (LSW or LISW) for the 2024-25 school year.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Support the school's mission, philosophies, values, goals, and policies toward students, parents/guardians, and coworkers.
  • Design and deliver developmentally appropriate mental health interventions based on observations and individual student goals.
  • Utilize mental health approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy and dialectical behavior therapy to help students regulate emotions and develop classroom participation skills.
  • Counsel individual students to facilitate transitions, foster positive attitudes, self-understanding, and self-reliance.
  • Provide individual counseling and group guidance to help students cope with personal, social, academic, career, and family concerns.
  • Participate as a member or consultant of the school guidance team; attend Student Support Team / MTSS, 504, IEP meetings, etc., as requested.
  • Lead social-emotional skills lessons in collaboration with classroom teachers.
  • Provide crisis intervention services and collaborate with parents when students are overwhelmed or unable to stay in school.
  • Coordinate with mental health agencies for ongoing student support as needed.
  • Demonstrate cultural sensitivity in counseling and classroom interventions.
  • Work with faculty and leadership to analyze student data for refining interventions.
  • Facilitate communication and conferences with parents/guardians regarding student progress.
  • Maintain an organized, attractive, and safe classroom environment.
  • Engage respectfully with students, parents, faculty, and staff.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education :

Master's degree or completion by the first day of work.

Experience :

At least 2 years of counseling experience preferred, especially in urban settings.

Licensure and Certification :

Must hold Ohio licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), Licensed Social Worker (LSW), or Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW). Must also obtain a pupil services license through the State Board of Education.
