Job Responsibilities
  1. Plan, accompany, and supervise the team to and from all events including practices and competitions.
  2. Responsible for all matters pertaining to the organization and administration of coaching an athletic team.
  3. Assist the Director of Activities with hiring, development, and evaluation of assistant coaches.
  4. Work with the Director of Activities on budget requests, spending, and fundraising as needed.
  5. Plan and implement conditioning and weight programs with the Pagel Center Staff.
  6. Coordinate practice and game schedules with relevant offices and staff.
  7. Enforce discipline and sportsmanship, and manage activity penalties for breaches of standards.
  8. Follow all applicable rules and policies, including those of the Minnesota State High School League and Minnetonka Public Schools.
  9. Order and inventory equipment, uniforms, and supplies.
  10. Maintain accurate records (e.g., student physicals, parental consents, attendance, insurance, codes).
  11. Prepare and verify team rosters and student eligibility.
  12. Report major injuries immediately to the trainer and Director of Activities.
  13. Participate in coaches meetings and planning sessions.
  14. Develop and implement a transformational purpose statement and emergency action plan.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Knowledge of the assigned sport and background in coaching.
  • Understanding of district policies and codes.
  • Ability to prioritize, handle multiple tasks, and communicate effectively.
  • Strong work ethic and dedication to student participation benefits.
  • Physical ability to perform essential functions.
Licensing Requirements

Applicants must possess a coaching license or complete an MSHSL alternative program.

Compensation

In accordance with Schedule B of the Teacher Collective Bargaining Agreement. Not eligible for medical or dental benefits. Click here to view 2024-25 wage schedule.
