Job Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Implements methods and techniques of differentiating the District-approved curriculum for meeting the needs of individual EL/ELL students.
  2. Plans instruction and other student support activities, including establishing overall goals and priorities.
  3. Participates in parent/teacher conferences; interprets student strengths, weaknesses, and/or problems that the student may be experiencing in the classroom.
  4. Develops student assessments and evaluates results.
  5. Determines student grades for instructional units and works with classroom teachers to report progress to parents.
  6. Works in a supportive and collaborative manner with colleagues and supervisors.
  7. Complies with Minnesota Department of Education requirements for assessing, reporting, and serving students who qualify for ELL services.
  8. Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
Specific Responsibilities
  1. Collaborative work in a fast-paced environment interacting with students, staff, administrators, parents, and the community with multiple requests and concerns.
  2. Support and communicate with other administrators and staff.
  3. Respond in emergency situations.
  4. Know, interpret, and follow school District policies.
  5. Willingness to adjust to the changing schedules of students in a pull-out or push-in program.
  6. Pursues professional development activities to broaden and deepen knowledge of the content and teaching skills and continually identifies professional needs and develops strategies to meet these needs.
  7. Manage time, responsibilities, and work independently.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Demonstrated ability to apply appropriate skills in performing daily routines.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate a computer, software, and necessary technology.
  • Ability to develop effective and positive working relationships with students, staff, administrators, parents, and the community.
  • Maintain professional composure while dealing with a variety of personalities and situations.
  • Show initiative and function as a self-starter.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisors, the general public, etc., sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
