Position: 2025-2026 Full-Time Science Teacher

Position Description: Archbishop Hoban High School is seeking a full-time Science teacher for the 2025-2026 school year. This position includes instruction of college preparatory Physical Science courses that align with school standards in a modified block schedule format. The ideal candidate will have a strong desire for creating an inclusive and positive classroom environment, actively engaging students in learning and encouraging a high level of academic achievement. We are a private Catholic high school in the heart of east Akron and rooted in the Holy Cross tradition. Position Responsibilities:

1. Create authentic assessments that consistently provide sound practice and feedback, resulting in student growth and development.
2. Incorporate various modes of technology into lesson plans and classroom activities.
3. Experience with or are open to a variety of instructional methods and techniques to meet course objectives.
4. Encourage a classroom culture of mutual respect and build positive relationships with students.
5. Evaluate student academic needs and report student progress as scheduled.
6. Communicate with parents and/or guardians in a timely manner regarding student progress.
7. Ensure compliance with all school policies, procedures and guidelines to maintain a safe and productive environment for students.
8. Participate in school-wide events such as open houses, meet the teacher night, and conferences.
9. Demonstrate effective communication, problem-solving, and time management skills.
10. Maintain the confidentiality of privileged information.

Position Qualifications:

1. Valid Ohio high school Science teaching license. Strong background in physical science is preferred.
2. Successful completion of a Bachelor’s degree.
3. Ability to work with school technology (use of academic software, Google, etc.).
4. Appropriate criminal records check by the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation and Federal Bureau of Investigation. Have attended or are willing to attend a VIRTUS Protecting God’s Children training.
