Music Teacher Job Description
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in education and/or related field
- Valid educational license
- Appropriate endorsement and/or training for assigned course(s)
Supervises: N/A
Reports to: Supervising Administrator
Job Goal: To improve instruction by providing assistance to teachers in developing effective teaching strategies for all students.
Typical Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provides quality work that engages students in learning
- Possesses knowledge of subject matter content
- Recognizes and responds appropriately to individual differences in students
- Differentiates instruction for a variety of developmental stages and ability levels
- Implements adopted curriculum, subject matter standards, and assessment instruments to meet school and district goals
- Plans lessons in a logical sequence
- Demonstrates knowledge of the subjects to be taught and the relationship to other subjects
- Reflects on teaching and devises ways of improving performance on an ongoing basis
- Collaborates with other educators to create a comprehensive educational environment for students
- Uses a variety of assessment techniques and models to evaluate student performance
- Uses formative assessment to improve instruction
- Assumes responsibility for all students to ensure adequate yearly progress as per standards
- Participates in the referral-to-placement process for students referred for Child Study
- Utilizes technology in teaching and learning
- Provides a safe, orderly, hazard-free, and conducive learning environment
- Implements disciplinary measures to facilitate effective instruction and classroom management
- Engages positively with parents and community members
- Communicates clearly and effectively in instruction
- Participates in professional growth activities to maintain licensure and support school improvement
- Adheres to policies and procedures of district, state, and federal guidelines
- Submits reports promptly and accurately
- Manages classroom materials, textbooks, and equipment responsibly
- Participates in co-curricular and extra-curricular duties as assigned
- Participates in school and district committees and teams
- Attends school-related functions outside instructional hours
- Maintains prompt and regular attendance
- Supports the district's mission, vision, and strategic plan
- Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor
Term of Employment: Salary and work year to be established by the Board of Trustees
Evaluation: Annually
