Job Description: To create an elementary classroom environment conducive to learning and personal growth; establish effective rapport with students; motivate students to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed for a strong foundation in elementary education, tailored to each student's ability; build good relationships with parents and staff.

Job Summary

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Teaching reading, language arts, social studies, mathematics, science, and health, using the North Carolina curriculum and appropriate learning activities. Instruct students in citizenship and basic subjects.
• Developing lesson plans and instructional materials; providing individualized and small group instruction tailored to students' needs.
• Utilizing various instructional strategies such as inquiry, group discussion, lecture, and discovery.
• Translating lesson plans into engaging learning experiences to optimize instructional time.
• Establishing and maintaining standards of student behavior to foster a productive learning environment.
• Evaluating students’ academic and social progress; maintaining records and preparing reports.
• Communicating with parents through conferences and other means to discuss progress and school programs.
• Identifying student needs; collaborating with staff to address health, attitude, and learning issues.
