The job of Assistant Coach is to assist in designing and implementing the athletic program for the assigned sport, in accordance with applicable rules and regulations. Responsibilities include supervising coaching staff and students, using sound instructional techniques, serving as a positive role model, and acting as a liaison between the school, community, and other organizations.
Perform other duties as assigned by the head coach to ensure effective functioning of the work unit.
Knowledge of community support organizations, equipment, injury prevention, relevant laws and policies, participant eligibility, and safety practices. Skills include adapting to changing priorities, administering first aid, coordinating activities, and organizing information. Ability to schedule activities, analyze issues, and work with diverse individuals is essential. Flexibility, problem-solving skills, leadership, confidentiality, and effective communication are required. Willingness to travel and work extended hours is also necessary.
Physical demands include occasional lifting, pushing, pulling, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and fine finger dexterity. The work involves sitting (10%), walking (45%), and standing (45%), with exposure to temperature extremes and risks of injury or illness.
