The Springfield, Missouri Public School District is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Assistant Coach.
The Springfield School District is Missouri’s largest public school district, serving approximately 25,000 students across 36 elementary schools, an intermediate school, 9 middle schools, 5 high schools, and various alternative education and choice programs.
The Assistant Coach assists in designing and implementing the athletic program for the assigned sport, supervises coaching staff and students, uses sound instructional techniques, serves as a positive role model, and acts as a liaison with other schools, the community, and organizations.
Perform other duties as assigned by the head coach to ensure effective operation.
Knowledge: Basic math, technical information, legal and policy knowledge, safety practices, injury prevention, and community relations.
Skills: Multitasking, first aid, coordination, organization, communication, financial oversight.
Ability: Schedule activities, analyze data, work independently and with diverse groups, problem-solve, and operate equipment.
Work under limited supervision, with opportunities to impact services significantly.
Related experience with increasing responsibility required.
Bachelor’s degree preferred; minimum of 60 college hours required.
Background clearance required.
Physical demands include lifting, carrying, climbing, stooping, and fine motor skills; work involves walking, standing, and exposure to temperature extremes and risk of injury.
