Seghesio Family Vineyards was established in 1895, when Edoardo Seghesio planted his first Zinfandel vineyard in Sonoma County’s Alexander Valley. Today we produce critically acclaimed wines that honor the history of Sonoma and the legacy of the Seghesio family. Collected over a century, our 300 acres in preeminent growing regions—the Alexander, Dry Creek and Russian River valleys—represent some of the oldest vineyards and proprietary clones. True to Edoardo’s vision, we strive to produce exceptional Zinfandel and Italian varietals.

Seghesio Family Vineyards is seeking seasonal interns to join our production staff for the 2021 harvest season. We offer state-of-the-art technologies and equipment and present an opportunity to learn how to operate in a premium winemaking environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Work to the expectations of the winemakers to maintain highest wine quality, and adhere to safety standards and protocols at all times.
  • Perform all aspects of cellar work, including but not limited to fruit processing, barrel work and maintenance, wine and juice movements, blending, assisting with wine additions, and bottling.
  • Operate and maintain a variety of pumps and other winery/cellar implements, including harvest equipment: De-stemmer, conveyors, sorting tables, presses, and cap.
  • Tank and equipment sanitation, preparation. Maintenance and care of hoses, racking tools, fittings, cleaning supplies/tools, etc. Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of chemicals and equipment.
  • Analyze vineyard, crush and fermentation samples for grape maturity and juice and wine chemistry.
  • Assist with daily set-up and calibration for lab instruments which may include the Refractometer, Autotitrator, Density Meter, Random Access Analyzer, Alcolyzer and / or Turbidity Meter.
  • Inoculate juice and wine for primary and secondary fermentations utilizing automated cellar equipment and by-hand methods.
  • Monitor fermentations, maintain data logs, enter analysis into tracking software and report any out-of-spec values to Winemaking team.
  • Support grape sampling and other vineyard and cellar operations as assigned by Winemaking team.
Education, Training and Other Requirements
  • Previous cellar experience is preferred.
  • Ability to work as part of the team and independently, and be positive for yourself and those you work with.
  • Team player with a keen eye for detail and a willingness to undertake the tasks needed for smooth operation in our vineyards and at our facility.
  • Potentially act in a lead position during harvest, and otherwise provide direction/instruction/training to other cellar hands, seasonal workers, and temporary staff.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work long hours and various shifts.
  • Bilingual in both English and Spanish is a plus.
  • Ensure safety at all times including use of personal protective equipment.
