Job description

We are hiring Press Operators for our printing plant team in Eagan, Minnesota. As a #2 Press Operator, you will be responsible for working as a Mid-Level Operator on our Core Publishing Solutions team. You will operate state-of-the-art offset and digital web presses. For this role, you would also be eligible for a $2,500 signing bonus upon being in the role for 90 days. We have also increased the shift differential for 3rd shift to $5 per hour.

Hours of Work - Eagan, Minnesota

  • 3rd shift - 10:30 pm - 6:30 am
  • Occasional overtime up to 4 hours per day and occasional weekend shifts

About the Role: In this opportunity as a #2 Press Operator, you will be responsible for:

  • Reviewing job specifications for material and set-up requirements
  • Performing or delegating set-up tasks
  • Monitoring the equipment and product through the job run to ensure a high-quality product
  • Performing moderately complex troubleshooting related to product or equipment
  • Communicating effectively during shift and at shift hand-off
  • Evaluating mechanical condition of equipment, completing preventive maintenance; involving Maintenance as needed
  • Using computer-based workflow applications to manage files
  • Accurately documenting activities on Tier Boards and in relevant systems (MII, SAP), e.g., material usage, equipment issues
  • Accurately marking, verifying, and tagging loads to ensure inventory accuracy
  • Providing work direction to others, whether direct crew or other individuals in the workstream
  • Actively participating in company safety programs and contributing to a safe culture
  • Performing training as needed
  • Meeting or exceeding established quality and productivity standards using standard work procedures
  • Implementing, performing, and sustaining housekeeping procedures to maintain work area and equipment
  • Participating in project teams as needed
  • Recommending and implementing process improvements
  • Filling in for other Operators as needed, including covering absences or breaks

About You: You're a fit for the role of #2 Press Operator if your background includes:

  • Possessing a High School Diploma/GED or higher. Candidates with a vocational/technical degree are strongly preferred
  • Experience leading and training others
  • Experience working in an industrial setting with a wide range of production machinery
  • Strong mechanical and technical skills, with the ability to troubleshoot, and work independently and as part of a team to resolve issues
  • Solid understanding of Lean concepts and continuous improvement
  • Competent with rulers and measurement
  • Able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and production orders
  • Can regularly lift at least 5 lbs. above the shoulder as well as push, pull, and lift at least 10 lbs., occasionally up to 50 lbs
  • Regularly standing, walking, crouching, bending, reaching, and kneeling

Thomson Reuters complies with local laws regarding pay disclosure. The hourly pay range for this role in eligible US locations is $21 - $38, plus potential bonuses. Pay is based on experience, skills, and internal equity, and is part of a comprehensive rewards package.
