Job summary

Speedrack Products Group is seeking an experienced Welder to support production in our manufacturing facility. The role involves MIG welding, material selection, and precise fabrication to meet quality standards.

You will read drawings, operate weld equipment, adjust settings, and perform inspections. The position requires adherence to safety policies, teamwork, and reliable attendance on shifts, including overtime when needed.

Qualifications

  • Reads and evaluates drawings.
  • Must be able to read a tape measure accurately.
  • Must be able to pass a written and physical test for an Industrial Truck Permit.
  • Ability to adapt to changing job functions.
  • Capable of working well with coworkers from diverse backgrounds.

Responsibilities

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives at the facility.
  • Read and evaluate drawings to determine correct material.
  • Operate MIG welder and hoist.
  • Adjust equipment and materials, including wire and welder settings.
  • Measure parts and visually inspect for correctness.
  • Ensure quality penetration on welds.
  • Maintain production logs with downtime, setup, counts, etc.
  • Perform daily equipment inspections.
  • Complete first piece inspections.
  • Band material as needed and assist other departments.
  • Adhere to safety and environmental policies.
  • Maintain tidy work areas and reliable attendance.

Job Summary

Responsible for production needs as appropriate for assignment.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Responsible for actively supporting continuous improvement initiatives of the facility
  • Read and evaluate drawings
  • Determine correct material
  • Operate MIG Welder and hoist
  • Adjust all equipment and material as needed including but not limited to the wire and welder
  • Measure parts and assure that measurements are correct and visually inspect parts
  • Assure that a quality penetration has occurred on all welds
  • Move, count and tag completed parts to appropriate areas
  • Complete daily production logs indicating all required information including put not limited to down time, set up periods, counts, etc.
  • Complete hoist and/or other equipment inspections daily as required
  • Accurately complete 1st piece inspections
  • Band material with a manual or electric bander when needed
  • Assist other departments when needed
  • Must adhere to all safety and environmental policies
  • Maintain general housekeeping and orderly work area(s)
  • Maintain regular, reliable and punctual attendance at the worksite for the duration of scheduled shifts, including mandatory overtime
  • Understand and comply with all company policies, procedures, rules and standards
  • Maintain professional, cooperative, respectful and ethical conduct when interacting with coworkers, customers, vendors and the public
  • Meet established productivity, quality, accuracy and performance standards while completing assigned work in a timely manner
  • Effectively and consistently support the company mission, vision and values
  • Responsible for all other duties, procedures and instructions as required by the job function, or as assigned, to meet organizational needs
Qualifications
Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred

  • Requires the ability to read & write
  • Must be able to accurately read a tape measure

Working Conditions

This position primarily operates in a manufacturing environment where exposure to loud noises, machinery, and varying temperatures is common. Employees may also be exposed to dust, fumes, and other airborne particles. Personal protective equipment (PPE) will be provided and must be worn as required.

  • Physical Requirements:
    • Regularly required to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and climb during shift
    • Regularly required to talk and hear
    • Must be able to lift and carry at least 51 pounds
    • Ability to operate machinery, tools, and equipment as necessary
    • Visual and manual dexterity is required to inspect and handle products/materials
  • Safety Requirements:
    • Employees are expected to comply with all safety policies/practices/guidelines and actively participate in maintaining a safe workplace
    • Participation in safety training and adherence to safety procedures (e.g. lockout/tagout) is required
  • Additional Conditions:
    • Exposure to repetitive tasks and fast-paced production lines is common
    • May involve prolonged periods of standing and performing the same motion repeatedly
    • Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights when required
