C&S Wholesale Grocers, based in Houston, is seeking a full-time custodian/janitor to keep our distribution center and offices clean and safe. The role includes cleaning warehouses, offices, break areas, windows, and restrooms, with attention to floor care and waste disposal.

Typical shift is 1st shift, Sun-Thurs, starting at 6:00 a.m., with training on 2nd shift. The position offers paid training and benefits through the company from day one.

Responsibilities

• Provide and maintain a clean, safe work environment as custodian/janitor.
• Clean warehouse areas, offices, break rooms, windows, and restrooms.
• Maintain housekeeping by sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, buffing and waxing floors.
• Move products with pallet jack for cleaning as required.
• Tend to spills and dispose of waste properly.
• Collect and dispose of packing materials and boxes.
• Follow safe operating procedures for material handling equipment.
• Safely lift varying case weights and accommodate height changes.

Position Overview

Pay and Hours

• Earn $16 per hour + $1.50 cooler freezer pay
• 1st shift, FT, Sun-Thurs, 6:00 a.m. until completion
• 3100 Holcombe Blvd. Houston, Texas 77021
• Training will be 1-2 weeks on 2nd shift

Job Duties

• Providing and maintaining a clean and safe work environment by acting as a custodian / janitor
• Performing janitorial duties such as cleaning the entire warehouse, including office space, employee break areas, windows and restrooms
• Maintaining good housekeeping by sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, buffing and waxing floors
• Occasionally pulling product out of pick slots using an electric pallet jack to clean with a scrubber and returning product
• Tending to spills including damaged product, oil, grease, etc.
• Collecting plastic wrap, shredded paper, and empty boxes to be disposed of properly
• Following all material handling equipment safe operating procedures
• Occasional safe lifting of varying case weight, shape, and height levels
• Having the ability and willingness to follow all material handling equipment safe operating procedures

Physical Demands

• Standing, bending, pulling, lifting, pivoting up to 90% of shift
• Walking on various surfaces including concrete, tile, carpet, etc.
• Frequently lifting product weighing between 1 - 60 lbs. or more
• Frequent lifting product ranging from floor to overhead
• Possibility of working on multiple levels of varying height
• Safe handling of sharp objects including box cutting tools
