Job summary

Ryder System, Inc. in Columbus, Ohio is hiring Temp to Hire Warehouse Associates to pack, kit and load orders. You will operate an RF scanner and help ensure accurate scanning and shipping.

The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 am–4:30 pm with overtime possible on weekends; hourly pay is $17 with overtime at $25.50. Training is provided on the job, safety gear is supplied, and there is a path to full-time employment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Six months of related warehouse experience required.
• Learn to operate powered industrial trucks and other equipment (intermediate).
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted.
• Must input data into WMS systems.

Responsibilities

• Package, kit and/or assemble orders.
• Load and unload inbound/outbound trailers; ensure scanning accuracy.
• Perform material moves and housekeeping in the warehouse.
• Assist training of dock staff on new procedures.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Six months of related warehouse experience required
• One year or more related warehouse experience preferred
• Learn to operate powered industrial truck(s) (stand‑up or sit‑down forklifts, cherry pickers, pallet jacks, etc.), including operation and maintenance (battery change, recognize common mechanical issues); intermediate required
• May be required to operate manual and/or automated other warehouse manufacturing equipment (e.g., packaging line); intermediate preferred
• Powered industrial truck certification
• Ability to read, do basic mathematics in English for safety and work instructions
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted
• Ability to input data into the WMS computer system(s) in use
• Work overtime as assigned
• Ability to create and maintain professional relationships with all levels of the organization (peers, work groups, customers, supervisors)
• Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
• Flexibility to operate and self‑driven to excel in a fast‑paced environment
• Capable of multi‑tasking, highly organized with excellent time‑management skills
• Detail oriented with excellent follow‑up practices

Responsibilities

• Package, kit and/or assemble orders and materials.
• Load and unload inbound/outbound trailers; ensure all scanning is completed correctly; help train dock employees on new procedures; secure the facility at end of shift; investigate/resolve scanning issues and housekeeping; perform picking and packing duties; check for evidence of product or container damage.
• Perform assigned tasks as described in the location's policies and procedures, including handling materials within associated logical transactions.
• Perform material moves with associated physical/logical transactions as required.
• Participate in workgroup and team activities for self‑improvement and improving warehouse operations and related business functions.
• Perform housekeeping duties for assigned area.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
