Job summary

Division Laundry & Cleaners, Inc. is seeking a Soil Sort Worker to efficiently sort incoming soiled laundry and prepare it for the laundry process.

You will work within a team, performing hands-on duties such as opening bags, weighing and sorting linen, and placing items into the correct bins. Responsibilities include operating hoist systems, standing for long periods, and lifting up to 50 pounds frequently.

Job Summary

The Soil Sort Worker is responsible for sorting incoming soiled laundry in preparation for the laundry process.

Essential Job Functions, Duties and Responsibilities

This position will work within a team of people performing similar duties. Along with one or more employees, may perform some or all of the following duties during a given shift:

• Manually open bags containing soiled linen
• Push or pull a cart weighing up to 250 pounds from the adjoining sorting area
• Position cart on the floor-located scale to note bag weight
• Move the cart up to the hoist loading area
• Lift bag straps and attach them to the overhead hoist
• Activate hoist control pushbuttons to initiate the conveyance of the bag
• Sort linen by hand to identify and separate by type
• Pick up and place linen in the appropriate bins
• Demonstrates friendly and respectful behavior in the work environment
• Perform job rotation as required
• Assist in any job duty as instructed by Management.

Physical Requirements

• Physical demands include constant standing and frequent walking.
• Constant reaching above and below shoulder height, twisting, grasping, and pulling items and work tools such as mops, towels, and cleaning products.
• Repetitive hand movement includes simple and power grasping, fine manipulation and pushing and pulling items up to 50 pounds on a constant basis.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
• Required to wear and use personal protective equipment as needed.
• Ability to complete job duties while wearing protective gear during indoor and outdoor tasks.
• Ability to hear for safety and awareness of surroundings.
• Ability to meet the physical demands for the entire shift.

Work Environment

Production areas of a typical industrial laundry facility, which includes working with and around large machinery, variations in temperature (non-air-conditioned work area), noise, humidity, and other hazards.
