Job summary

Morton Industries, LLC is hiring for a 1st shift Shipping and Receiving Clerk to assemble, label and prepare shipments, and verify documents for domestic or export shipments.

You will load and unload, maintain inventory, and operate a hand truck or forklift as needed while ensuring accuracy of records and efficient flow of materials.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Ability to follow receiving and shipping procedures.
• Attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Assembles and prepares outgoing parts, equipment, material and rejects for domestic or export shipment.
• Loads and unloads shipments and performs cycle counts for inventory accuracy.
• Receives materials and checks against receiving documents or purchase orders.
• Posts weights and shipping charges, affixes postage and prepares shipping labels.
• Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
• Operates forklift/hand truck to move shipments as needed.
• Expedites materials with outside vendors and records data entries.
• Delivers or picks up materials from vendors and coordinates team activities.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Summary

Assembles and prepares outgoing parts, equipment, material, product and rejects for domestic or export shipment. Loads and unloads shipments. Receives materials, checking against receiving papers or purchase orders. Performs cycle counts for accurate inventory of material. Performs required data entry to ensure accurate records.

Essential Functions

Include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
• Determines method of shipment.
• Affixes shipping labels on packed cartons or stencils identifying shipping information on cartons.
• Assembles wooden or cardboard containers or selects preassembled containers.
• Inserts items into containers.
• Stamps, stencils, or glues identifying information and shipping instructions onto crates or containers.
• Posts weights and shipping charges, and affixes postage.
• Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages. Routes items to departments.
• Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications.
• Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
• Operates industrial truck or uses hand truck to load and unload vehicles, move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage or work area.
• Process, print, and record all incoming and outgoing material.
• Expedite materials at outside vendors.
• Maintain inventory via computer.
• Store and retrieve materials.
• Complete work order cards.
• Deliver or pick up materials from vendors.
• Coordinate efforts of other employee/duties in the area.
• All other duties as assigned
