Mission:
Direct supervision of hourly employees in the safe and efficient manufacture of our products, ensuring all quality and productivity standards are met in a cost-effective manner.
Essential Functions:
- Supervise and train employees.
- Understand and align with the business objectives of the plant, department, and management.
- Achieve department and shift goals by managing assigned staff and activities; coordinate plans and evaluate departmental/shift performance.
- Train, develop, coach, and counsel leads, employees, and new hires; provide ongoing feedback and conduct annual performance reviews.
- Treat all employees fairly, objectively, courteously, and professionally.
- Assign work fairly, considering individual capabilities.
- Monitor daily schedules, assignments, and productivity targets; lead discussions on priorities with the team.
- Learn, understand, teach, and reinforce department and company policies, procedures, and good manufacturing practices, including safety, quality, health, housekeeping, behavior, and timely throughput.
- Follow and teach department SPCs, QCPs, and OPCs; reinforce specifics on travelers and tech cards; ensure accuracy, quality, and precision.
- Understand department status reports, efficiency, and quality goals; share information with the team.
- Report issues, concerns, and suggestions from employees to the manager; recognize employee contributions.
- Perform all other assigned duties.
Training and Qualifications:
- Degree preferred or equivalent experience.
- Knowledge in Investment Castings is a plus.
- Minimum of three years of experience in manufacturing or production, or relevant training, education, and experience demonstrating necessary skills.
- Ability to read, comprehend, write, and communicate effectively in English.
- Intermediate to advanced math skills: accurately perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of two-digit numbers; multiply and divide by tens and hundreds without a calculator.
- Ability to analyze and interpret financial, business, and production data/metrics.
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals; complete department and production documents accurately and promptly.
- Basic computer skills, including intermediate proficiency in Excel.
- Effective communication skills with co-workers and others.
- Ability to meet individual performance standards; willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends.
- Compliance with company policies, including safety, quality, and attendance.
- Handle cast parts carefully to prevent damage.
