Position Summary

The MIG Welder I will join, fabricate, and repair steel parts using specialized gas metal arc welding techniques and equipment.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Join, fabricate, and repair metal and other weldable materials by applying appropriate welding techniques.
  • Interpret blueprints, specifications, diagrams, or schematics to determine the appropriate welding process.
  • Inspect completed welds to ensure structural soundness.
  • Comply with all safety requirements and protocols.
  • Prepare materials and set up for welding devices or robots as needed.
  • Complete apprenticeship or formal training in the area of specialty if required.
  • Support safety and quality programs by following all rules and processes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Ability to operate forklifts and cranes.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Proficiency with hand tools and measuring tools.
  • Convert fractions to decimals and vice versa; convert metric to English units.
  • Provide high-quality work and excellent customer service.
  • Capable of setting up and operating processing machines.
  • Proficient in conversational English.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Must pass a MIG welder certification.
  • Relevant apprenticeship, experience, or vocational training preferred.
Physical Requirements
  • Lift 20-50 lbs repeatedly.
  • Bend, sit, stand, twist, and stoop for long periods.
  • Walk 2-5 miles during a shift.
  • Have good vision (20/30 with corrective lenses).
  • Maintain coordination for precision tasks.
Environmental Conditions
  • Exposure to indoor and outdoor conditions, including temperature changes, noise, vibration, and hazards like moving parts, electrical risks, heat, chemicals, fumes, dust, and oils.
