Metals USA has an immediate opening for a Material Handler on 1st shift at our Oakwood, GA facility. The role involves storing and moving inventory under limited supervision, with duties ranging from material tagging to crane/forklift operations and packing orders for delivery.

Hourly rate starts at $20/hr plus depending on experience; strong measuring, reading blueprints, and safety compliance are essential in this industrial warehouse environment.

Qualifications

• Math and measurement skills to calculate and convert decimals and fractions.
• Ability to understand verbal and written communication.
• Proficient measuring skills to read measuring tapes and micrometers.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and blueprints.
• Industrial warehouse experience required.
• Experience with heavy equipment preferred.
• Overhead crane or forklift experience required.
• Detail oriented with ability to inspect material for quality.

Responsibilities

• Receives and returns materials into stock inventory locations.
• Tags materials for proper identification.
• Pulls and assembles customer orders in order of delivery.
• Operates yard truck for loading/unloading trailers.
• Operates cranes to load/unload trailers.
• Operates forklift (5k or 10k) to load/unload trailers.
• Loads and secures material onto trucks.
• Completes production and quality paperwork; follows data collection procedures.
• Performs grinding and oxy-fuel torch tasks.
• Keeps work areas clean, safe and organized; returns tools to designated areas.
• Ensures machine centers are loaded with material for production.
• Notifies management of discrepancies, malfunctions and injuries.
• Regular and predictable attendance is required.
