Job DescriptionJob Description1st Shift Industrial Electric Maintenance Location: Decatur, ARSchedule: Monday through Thursday from 5:30 am to 4:00 pmPay rate: $20/hour Primary Purpose:The Industrial Electrician is responsible for all electrical maintenance activities performed by themselves and for directly overseeing the work of other electricians in the manufacturing environment. They obtain permits and perform electrical work as required by law to control and maintain facility equipment, infrastructure, and operations. The Electrician must be capable of using considerable independent judgment in making decisions without the availability of supervision.Education/Certification:
- A combination of education and experience is equal to the electrician's requirements.

- Proven ability to identify creative solutions to problems.
- Thorough knowledge of engineering materials and manufacturing processes.
- Good organizational skills and attention to detail; ability to manage several projects
- simultaneously.
- Ability to operate hand tools and mechanical equipment.

- Ability to communicate effectively and read/interpret documents.
Experience:
Duties:
- Regularly inspect and evaluate electrical and electronic equipment to ensure it operates efficiently and safely.
- Follow the recommended maintenance schedule for cleaning and lubricating equipment.
- Maintain records on equipment status and maintenance.
- Study blueprints and schematics and determine the methods, materials, and equipment needed to complete the assignment.
- Must be willing to be available to direct resources 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, with the possibility of holidays.
- Ensure all required repairs and maintenance are performed on all equipment and assets as scheduled or requested by management and others.
- Perform preventative maintenance on all equipment and assets per a set schedule.
- Ensure maintenance team members are correctly uniformed and equipped and follow all safety procedures to perform their work.
- Maintain and facilitate effective training programs as needed.
- Provide written details of work performed on Work Order forms and other documents.
- Record all maintenance request work performed in the log program and return the request to the proper location.
- Perform, facilitate, and manage special projects assigned in the time set for each project.
- Connect wires to plugs, switches, controls, light fixtures, traffic controls, appliances, motors, breaker panels, and switchboards.
- Splice wires by stripping insulation from wire leads, twisting, clamping, and/or soldering leads together and applying insulating terminal caps using various hand tools; makes underground waterproof splices.
- Disassemble, repair, and reassemble or replace defective electrical equipment such as plugs, switches, outlets, controls, ballasts, motors, and appliances using hand tools, test equipment, and service manuals.
- Test installations to check and ensure circuit continuity, and the compatibility and safety of all components using test equipment such as an ohmmeter, ampmeter, voltmeter, oscilloscope, or battery buzzer.
- Measure, cut, bend, thread, assemble, and install electrical conduit, junction, switch, outlet boxes, and switch boards using hand tools and such special equipment as mechanical drills, cutters, benders, and threaders.
- Clean and lubricate equipment, and maintain records on equipment status and maintenance.
- Installed and repaired telephones, light fixtures, electrical controls, motors, and appliances using hand tools and electric drills.
- Inspect and evaluate electrical equipment to ensure that it operates efficiently and safely; determine whether equipment and new installations meet the requirements of the Electrical Code.
- Pull the wire through the conduit.
- Determine materials needed for most frequently occurring repair work, prepare requisitions, and monitor inventory.
- Clean and maintain tools and perform routine maintenance on special equipment used in an electrician's work.
- Train lower-level apprentice Electricians and others.
- Provide instruction and training in the proper methods and processes for electrician assignments.
- Review job performance by observing and critiquing work techniques and completed assignments.
- Develop plans and estimates for electrical projects. This includes determining the time, equipment, and human and material resources needed to complete the work.
- Prepare written reports on ongoing projects and the condition of machinery.
- Perform other maintenance-related work as assigned and required.
