Job summary

Daimler Truck North America in Byesville, OH is seeking an associate to disassemble HDEP heavy duty diesel engines as part of the remanufacturing process. You will remove all components to yield a bare engine block while following established procedures.

This onsite role offers starting pay of $20.00 per hour up to $28.22, with shift differentials and quarterly gainsharing. Comprehensive benefits include 401(k) match, paid vacation, holidays, health coverage, and tuition assistance.

Qualifications

  • Must be capable of repetitive hand manipulation.
  • Must stand on concrete for entire shift with lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Maintain a clean work area and meet quality standards.
  • Cross train on other jobs as required.
  • Read and understand Work Station Instruction documentation.
  • Ability to collaborate with a team and work independently.
  • Overtime work may be required.
  • Excellent attendance and performance record.

Responsibilities

  • Disassemble all components from HDEP engines to a bare engine block.
  • Follow established remanufacturing processes and safety procedures.
  • Operate basic production tools and equipment as directed.
  • Identify parts and reference drawings and materials as needed.
  • Participate in continuous improvement and housekeeping.

Inside the Role

This position is responsible for the disassembly of HDEP heavy duty diesel engines by way of the established remanufacturing process. Associate is responsible for disassembly of all components from HDEP Engines to a complete bare engine block.

This position offers:
  • Starting pay of $20.00/hr. up to top pay of $28.22/hr.*
  • Quarterly gainsharing bonus potential

*additional shift differential for off-shifts

What You Drive at DTNA
  • Perform physically demanding manufacturing duties including: repetitive processes, moderate to heavy lifting, the use of machinery, and following standardized work procedures
  • Actively participate in improving work area in terms of safety, quality, attendance, productivity, suggestion activities, housekeeping, and throughput
  • Operate torque wrenches, air tools, presses, gauges, hoist, press, hand tools, computers, PIV.
  • Use of pallet jack & hoist
  • Properly identify component parts by learning identification numbers
  • Adhere to established work rotation plan
  • Complete training matrix for each rotation position
  • Ability to read and understand Work Station Instructions
  • Other tasks and/or duties as requested
  • Use computer systems to access company data associated with the assembly process, utilize drawings, bills of materials and specification sheets in both electronic and hard copy
Knowledge You Should Bring
  • Must be capable of repetitive hand manipulation, grasping and supporting power tools
  • Must be able to stand on concrete for entire shift with repetitive bending, stooping, twisting, reaching and lifting up to 50 pounds (with assistance from a team member or use of hoist)
  • Must maintain a clean work area.
  • Meet quality standards and implement continuous improvement measures
  • Cross train on other jobs as required
  • Ability to operate riveting, torqueing, hand tools and small power tools in a safe and nondestructive manner.
  • Read and understand Work Station Instruction documentation
  • Ability to collaborate with a team and work independently
  • Ability to work overtime when necessary
  • Established satisfactory attendance record and performance rating
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Exceptional Candidates Might Have
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing (automotive/trucking) environment
  • Previous mechanical experience
  • High School Diploma / GED preferred and further college education a plus
