Job summary

Catania Oils seeks a Production Floor Trainer (1st Shift) in Ayer, MA to lead on‑the‑floor training across packaging lines and supporting systems. You will develop and deliver training on setup, changeovers, and SOPs, while ensuring operators achieve competency before independent operation.

You will coordinate with plant leadership to update job aids and maintain training documentation, upholding OSHA/GMP/HACCP compliance and fostering a safety‑conscious culture across shifts.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; some college or higher learning preferred.
• Three to five years of manufacturing experience, including at least two years operating multiple packaging or production lines.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to understand equipment operation and perform basic troubleshooting.
• Demonstrated leadership, coaching, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of OSHA requirements, GMPs, HACCP principles, and food safety practices.
• Ability to train employees with varying levels of experience and work effectively across Production, Quality, Maintenance, Sanitation, Safety/EHS.
• Ability to maintain training documentation and work in production environments with PPE.

Responsibilities

• Provide structured, hands‑on training on equipment setup, startup, operation, shutdown, cleaning, changeovers, and SOPs.
• Train employees on filling, capping, labeling, vision inspection, and packaging lines and related support equipment.
• Evaluate operator knowledge and certify competency; coordinate refresher training as needed.
• Develop cross‑training plans to improve workforce flexibility and mentor employees during transitions.
• Adapt training methods to varied experience levels and language needs while maintaining standards.
• Teach and reinforce safe work practices, Lockout/Tagout, OSHA, GMPs, HACCP, allergen controls, and food safety expectations.
• Observe work, correct unsafe practices, and report hazards through proper channels.
• Support onboarding, line startups, product changeovers, and new equipment implementations.
• Spend majority of time on the production floor coaching for safety, quality, efficiency, and consistency.
• Collaborate with Maintenance on training and distinguishing routine adjustments from maintenance needs.
• Reinforce standardized practices to reduce downtime and waste and improve reliability.
• Participate in problem‑solving, root‑cause analysis, and continuous improvement.
