This position maintains product quality and accurate production records while following current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) requirements, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and safety procedures. The operator works closely with Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, Quality Control, Product Development, and Maintenance.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate automatic encapsulation machines, including the Index K120 or comparable equipment. Complete product changeovers and install the correct parts and tooling for each capsule size.

  • Disassemble, clean, inspect, and reassemble parts and tooling according to SOPs, preventing damage, loss, and contamination. Report worn, damaged, missing, or incorrectly installed parts before startup.

  • Verify the correct blend, capsule size, and capsule origin against approved records. Interpret capsule colors and color-coded material labels where required by approved procedures, with or without reasonable accommodation, and confirm identity using required records.

  • Feed material into the hopper at startup and throughout the production run, following approved safety procedures.

  • Adjust and monitor capsule weight, fill consistency, closing, locking, empty capsule supply, and capsule polisher operation.

  • Perform required in-process sampling and submit samples to Quality Control for approval. Promptly report weight deviations, improper sealing, material concerns, or other quality problems to the Manufacturing Lead or Supervisor.

  • Identify basic equipment problems and clear minor jams only when safe, trained, authorized, and consistent with SOPs and applicable machine-guarding and energy-control procedures. Escalate issues requiring Maintenance support.

  • Accurately complete batch records, in-process logs, downtime records, equipment usage logs, and room documentation. Ensure drums and materials are properly labeled.

  • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning within training and authorization and maintain a clean, organized work area that meets cGMP requirements.

  • Move pallets, drums, materials, and parts using approved equipment. Operate manual or powered pallet jacks only when trained and authorized.

  • Attend and monitor equipment during operation. Coordinate breaks, relief coverage, and safe shutdowns according to procedures, consistent with applicable law and reasonable accommodation.

  • Wear the personal protective equipment (PPE) required for assigned tasks and work areas.

  • Perform other related duties consistent with training, safety requirements, and applicable law.

  • Ability to read, understand, and follow the English-language SOPs, batch records, and safety instructions used for this position and accurately complete required records. English proficiency is required only to the extent necessary to perform these duties

  • Basic math skills for capsule weights, yield reconciliation, and production records

  • Attention to detail and the ability to clearly communicate production, equipment, and quality concerns.

  • Ability to work the stated schedule and meet attendance expectations, subject to legally protected leave and reasonable accommodation

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least two years of hands-on automatic encapsulation experience in pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, or dietary supplement manufacturing

  • Experience with Index K120 or comparable encapsulation equipment
